Charles N. Coggswell and Margaret Elizabeth Rupell were married on Nov. 20, 1839. They were both descendents of Rev. George Phillips, who came to America from England and was a minister at Watertown, Mass. Charles Northend Coggswell, an attorney who served as Maine state senator and representative in the 1830s and 1840s, was born in South Berwick in 1797, the son of Northend Coggswell.
